The Race

Have you ever read a book that you didn’t want to put down? A book that changed your entire life? For me this book is The Race, by Della Loreda. It’s an amazing allegory of the christian walk similar to the Pilgrim’s Progress. The Race is a modern and up-to date version of Christian’s life and journey.

The book begins with Chris or Christian Strider who decides to run a really long-cross country race. A man named Josh Damour, volunteers to be his trainer for the upcoming race. Josh Damour is the son of the richest man in the world. Chris is very puzzled as to why this man has taken a specific interest in him and his life. He had never met the man nor had he done anything significant. But little did Chris know how important Josh Damour would be in his life. There are so many obstacles that he must face that are all orchestrated and arranged by the second-richest man on the planet named, Stan Modem. Stan will stop at nothing to get him to fail this race and drop out for good. The book goes through his journey, his failures, his successes, and how he learns to depend and trust solely on his coach, Josh Damour.

I absolutely love this book. It’s actually a favorite of mine. Its such a powerful unfolding of the story of what Jesus Christ did and is doing for us. Not only will He guide us in every step we take but He’s also already at the finish line encouraging us and welcoming us home. I want to run this race with Him and only Him.
