Abuse

Whimpering, crying, screaming—hurt

Quiet, still, abashed—silent

The bruises can’t be seen through my undershirt.

Makeup, smiles, money—divert

My mouth is shut in fear—violent

Whimpering, crying, screaming—hurt

I toss and turn—alert

My anger boils inside—quiet

The bruises can’t be seen through my undershirt.

I want to tell my story—blurt

I’m sick of spewing blood—diet

Whimpering, crying, screaming—hurt

I’m angry at the world—curt

I want to end it all—tie it.

The bruises can’t be seen through my undershirt.

My world flipped upside down—invert

Should I protest for myself?—riot

Whimpering, crying, screaming—hurt

The bruises can’t be seen through my undershirt.
